Sun Worshipping

You've probably heard about Swedes being atheists. That is not true when it comes to the sun. The cult for the sun was something I had a hard time understanding during my first year here. It is not uncommon to see a person sitting still on a bench with eyes closed, facing the sun. In the beginning I found it funny and called them "lizards". Four years later I am exactly the same, if not worse. One thing I learned is never to ridicule something which I don't understand, especially if it comes to cultural differences. And culture in Sweden is really closely tied to the weather - as probably everywhere else. Only in the summer I will get a smile when passing by someone on the street. Only in the summer I would get invited to a grill party like the one below. It was organized by Chad - a friend of a friend of a friend who is the owner of Velo Coffee - cold brew coffee on a bike. As hipster as it gets. And as Söder as it gets really. It all would have been perfect if we hadn't missed the fact that it was to be a vegetarian grill (no kidding?) so we couldn't put on our sausages, so we were kind of hungry on our way home (despite having eaten a whole bundle of asparagus hehe...)
