Yesterday we got together at a friend's place to try her new grill and celebrate Saturday. Sonia lives in a stylish house in Brotorp, has a 13-year old son and the cutest Yorkshire terrier. In the evening we went inside to watch the Champions League finale between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. Now, what I've always thought was really weird is the way people care so passionately about this kind of stuff. I understand fanship and all - I am myself a huge fan of Metallica and George Strait, but I will not cry my eyes out if any of them lost a competition. People crying and looking completely distraught by their team losing a battle... imaging if they felt that way for the battles that actually mattered - like wars and other types of crises. Instead they stand there in tears because their favourite football player has missed the goal - who by the way is earning his millions anyway. This is kind of why I don't want to care about football - I don't want it taking any bit of my mental or emotional energy - there are so many other things to be passionate about! Like BBQ and friends for example! :)
